About Us
The Urban Wildlife Alliance was born in the spring of 2013, when a small group of wildlife enthusiasts, rescuers, and licensed rehabilitators joined forces to help the wildlife of New York City more efficiently.
A year later, we became a fully-fledged 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to safeguard the welfare of wild animals in urban and suburban environments, based on the concept of compassionate conservation.
As a true grassroots, all-volunteer network, we are profoundly concerned that increased urbanization and the continual loss of natural habitat are adversely affecting city wildlife. To address this issue, we promote compassion, understanding, and respect for urban wildlife and strive to create a caring and environmentally responsible society where wildlife is treated as sentient beings to ensure a peaceful coexistence with our wild neighbors.
